Lady ’Canes Win Region 4AA Track

LADY ’CANES TRACKSTERS WIN REGION

The Monticello High School Lady ’Canes track team came from behind to defeat eight other schools and win the Region 4AA Championship Saturday.

The top four finishers qualify to participate in the state Sectionals which will be held this Saturday, April 28.

Qualifying for the sectionals are Alkeili Ross, Janee Chapman, Tierra Whitlock, Sharika Pennamon, Heather Deboer, and Aaliyah Barnes.

Top finishers are as follows Tierra Whitlock, first place in 100M hurdles, and 1600M relay; second place in 300M hurdles, and the high jump, and third place in 400M relay.

Janee Chapman took first in the 1600M relay, second in long jump, third in 100M dash and the 400M relay, fourth place in the 200M dash.

Sharika Pennamon took first place in the 1600M relay, third in the 400M relay, fifth in shot put, and seventh in the 100M relay.

Alkeili Ross placed first in the 1600M relay, third place in the 400M relay, and sixth in the 400M dash.

Aaliyah Barnes placed fourth in the discus and seventh in the 1600M relay.

Heather DeBoer was first in the pole vault, sixth in the 300M hurdles and seventh in the 100M hurdles.

Meagan Roberts placed sixth in the 800M run and seventh in the 1600M relay.

Morgan Stokes placed seventh in both the 400M dash and 1600M relay.

Maya Stokes placed seventh in the 1600M relay.

Other participants included Allyric Usher, discus; Miata Dudley, shot put; and Felicia Gordon, 1600M run.
