Cougar MS Socccer Plays Close Match
The Piedmont Academy Middle School girls soccer team fell 3-2 in a closely contested match Monday to Community Christian.
The Lady Cougars rallied from an early deficit on goals by Caroline Davis and Haley Tyler. Community Christian scored the winning goal with less than 30 seconds to play.
“It was a heartbreaker,” coach Jake Landress said. “If we had played the whole match the way we did the last five minutes the result would have been different. I am still proud of the way we came back. We want to win but this is also a level where you want to improve your game.”
The Middle School Lady Cougars played Westminster to a scoreless tie last Thursday.
Piedmont will host Gatewood at 4:30 p.m. today, April 19.
“The two matches with Gatewood are the biggest games for us,” Landress said. “I know our players will be ready for the rematch.”
