Shiloh’s First Home Game Is Rained Out; Earn Win on the Road

The Shiloh Christian Academy (SCA) Knights middle school baseball team was scheduled to make its home debut last Tuesday against Peachtree Academy of Covington but after a night of steady rain and pop-up showers through the morning, the field at the Jasper County Recreation Complex was unplayable and the game is going to be rescheduled.
Friday SCA was able to get a game in around showers in Lawrenceville facing Old Suwanee Christian School.
Matthew Lawson got his first start on the mound for SCA and both teams had a scoreless first inning.
Shiloh got the scoring started in the top of the second when Ady Dahod was hit by a pitch and moved all the way around the bases. He scored on a series of wild pitches.

Lawson also experienced some control issues in the second and was taken out and Caleb Compton was put on the mound with two runners on and no outs in the bottom of the second.
The relief pitcher struck out the next three batters to quench the rally, and the Knights led 1-0 at the end of the second.
The third inning showed improvement for SCA as their bats began to improve beginning when Lawson drew a one out walk and stole second. Compton delivered a RBI single and was followed by another single from David Sorrells.
After both runners advanced on a throw to third, Sam Mitchell delivered a two run hit to left, making the score 4-0.
Mitchell scored on a RBI single from first baseman, Jacob Young who also scored after stealing second, when the OSCS shortstop miss played a ball of the bat of Will Mitchell.
Compton allowed a lead off walk in the bottom of the inning and the runner stole second and third before scoring on a throwing error from the SCA catcher.
The next three batters were retired in order for a 6-1 Knights lead, after three.
The Knights added to their lead in the fourth after Lawson singled and later scored on a wild pitch. Compton and Sorrells both walked and scored on base hits from Dahod and Young.
Compton retired the home team, three up and three down, widening Shiloh’s leading gap to 9-1.
In the fifth inning, Shiloh finished off the run-ruled shortened game by plating five more runs off of walks by Max Davidson and Caleb Dinn and a two RBI double from Compton followed by RBI hits from Sorrells, Sam Mitchell, and Young.
This pushed the score to 14-1 entering the bottom of the fifth, where a walk and an error allowed Old Suwanee to post a threat but a two out grounder to second baseman, Justin Nelson ended the game with no further scoring.
On Monday, the Knights played their first home game at the Jasper County Recreation Department where they hosted the Eagles of Young Americans Christian School of Conyers. SCA came away with a hard fought 10-7 victory giving them a 3-1 record for the season.
The Eagles scored first in the top of the first inning on an error and a bloop hit to right field.
Starting pitcher D. Sorrells shut down the visitors through the next four innings as the local team scored one in the first on a two out Sorrells walk and a couple of wild pitches.
The Knights added one in the second on a Dahod single and Jonathan Martin walk as Martin scored on some aggressive base running during a double steal attempt giving SCA a 2-1 lead.
Shiloh saw their lead balloon to a 7-1 gap in the fourth behind hits from Martin, Sorrells, and Matthew Lawson.
SCA had several mental and physical miscues in the top of the fifth which saw them allow six unearned runs to tie the game at seven.
The Knights responded to the adversity by getting a Dahod lead off walk RBI hits from Micah Compton and Lawson to take a 9-7 lead.
Sorrells continued to throw strikes and the defense settled down to make the necessary plays to hold YACS scoreless the rest of the way as the Knights scored one more in the bottom of the sixth to claim the victory.
Shiloh faces Westminster Christian of Watkinsville, Today, March 22 at home, and Old Suwanee Christian School, Friday, March 23 in Gwinnett County. Both games are at 4 p.m. at the recreation department.
