Piedmont Ladies Soccer Begins Play
The Piedmont Academy Middle School girls soccer team took the field for the first time Monday against Strong Rock.
Despite playing well in several areas, the Lady Cougars fell 3-1.
“We seemed to be on their side of the field the entire time,” said coach Jake Landress. “We had several chances. Early on, I felt if we could have just put one goal in, we could have taken it.”
Strong Rock jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Piedmont got on the board on a goal from Haley Tyler. Strong Rock responded with another goal, however, to move back in front by two scores.
“We just couldn’t finish,” Landress said. “Overall, we played awesome. If we continue to play well, we will be fine. This is the first game. We have a great group of players who are working very hard.”
The Middle School Lady Cougars are set to return to action Monday in a rematch against Strong Rock at home at 6 p.m.
