Piedmont Golfers Record Wins

Piedmont Academy’s golf team posted big wins against Nathanael Greene and Bethlehem Christian Academy Monday at the Greene County Country Club.

The Cougars were 24 strokes better than their closest competitor as Drew Collins fired a team low 40. Tyler Cullum also had a quality outing with a round of 43.

“It was a good match to help get us headed in the right direction,” said coach Wes Tanner. “Hopefully, it will give us some momentum going into our future matches. I am proud of how much better several of our younger golfers have gotten and I am excited for what the rest of the season holds.”

Piedmont opened the 2012 season last week falling by one stroke to Gatewood at the Harbor Club. Collins was the low medalist for the Cougars with a score of 40.

“It was a tough course to start out, but all in all, I was happy with the way our players performed,” Tanner said.

The Piedmont golfers will host Gatewood and Briarwood Monday at Hunter Pope Country Club.
