Joshua Stone Is All-Star Player

Joshua Stone, the 6’3” small forward/power forward for the Monticello High School Hurricanes has been selected to participate in the First Middle Georgia versus South Georgia All-star Basketball Challenge.

Mr. Stone will have the opportunity to compete with and against some of the best players in Middle and South Georgia, according to an announcement from Coach Ernest Scott.

He will be able to showcase his talent one final time in the Middle Georgia area and perform before a number of college coaches who are looking to fill their rosters with players who possess the desire and skill to succeed at the next level.

According to Coach Scott, Mr. Stone is a strong and powerfully built forward. He is a good rebounder on both ends of the court. He finishes strong and has nice touch around the rim.

His overall game has improved significantly in the past year, especially in his ability to shoot the mid-range jumper consistently, and he can step out and shoot the three ball.

Mr. Stone is a well rounded and a physically strong player. He plays the game with tremendous intensity seeing the floor and passing opportunities extremely well. He has the ability to pull rebound and initiate the fast break off dribble.

He had a good senior campaign while averaging 10 points and seven rebounds per game for Monticello High School. In addition, Mr. Stone has completed all graduation requirements.

The game is scheduled to be held at Dublin High School in Dublin, April 14.

The girls’ game will start at 4 p.m. and the boys’ game will follow immediately afterwards.

In addition to the games, a slam dunk and three-point shooting contest will also be held, with prizes going to the winner of each event.

This year the Middle Georgia stars will be the home team and are being asked to wear their school’s home (white or lighter) colored uniforms.
