Janet Pauline Sands

Janet Pauline Sands, 60, of Fayetteville, NC died February 27, 2012.

Mrs. Sands was born March 26, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to the late Etta Jane Murray, and was raised by the late Melvin and Thelma Brame.

Mrs. Sands was a graduate of Clinton Senior High in Clinton, MO and received an associate degree in business. She continued her studies online, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business.

She was employed as a secretary on Fort Bragg Army installation.

She was married to Technical Sergeant (retired) David Sands on January 29, 1973.

Mrs. Sands was a friend to many and a mother to all. She was blessed with a great sense of humor. She was always caring for the well-being of others. She loved spending time her grandchildren, as they brought her much joy. She spoke words of wisdom and encouragement to everyone she met.

Mrs. Sands enjoyed decorating her home, shopping and cooking for family and friends. She loved those in her community and left a legacy of love for her family.

In addition to her husband, survivors include, children, Technical Sergeant (retired) Neal Caldwell of Phoenix, AZ, Douglas Shockley-Sands of Fayetteville, NC, Technical Sergeant David Ryan Sands of Ramstein, Germany, and Courtney Sands-Smith of Fayettteville, NC; sister-in-law, Christine Sands Clemons, of Monticello; brothers, John Boyd of Apple Valley, CA, and George Wells of Azusa, CA; five sisters, Rachelle Brame of Syracuse, NY, Myrtle Wells and Helen Wells, both of Ontario, CA, Bernadine Adams of Durate, CA, and Phylllis Moore, of Riverside, CA.

Also, 11 grandchildren, Steven Lomax, Christopher Caldwell, Ashley Caldwell, Antoine Smith, Zavien Smith, Dashaun Webb, Jordan Shockley, Elysse Williams, Jay-Cee Williams, Jasmine Sands, and Elizabeth Sands; and number of other relatives and friends.

A service was held Friday, March 2 at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville NC.
