Cougar Tennis Begins
Piedmont Academy’s tennis program will begin its new season Monday when it travels to Macon to face Covenant.
Coach Robert McMichael will have No. 1 singles player Brittany Germany return for the Lady Cougars along with No. 2 singles player Clare Maloney. Briana Bailey and Savannah Holifield will be at No. 1 doubles. McMichael said new players will fill the remain positions.
Britton Bailey will once again represent the Piedmont boys on the tennis court.
Piedmont will also travel to Gatewood Tuesday before playings its first home matches of 2012 on March 12 against Central Fellowship. All home matches will be played at Turtle Cove Country Club and all matches begin at 4 p.m. McMichael said the players will look to improve during the seven regular season matches. The Region 1-AA tournament will be April 9-10 in Sandersville.
“We have been practicing since early February,” McMichael said. “The players are working hard to get ready for the new season.”
