Frederick “Freddie” Adair Batchelor

Frederick “Freddie” Adair Batchelor, 78, of Monticello, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta.

“Freddie” Batchelor was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents were the late Roy Batchelor, Mae Elizabeth Caswell Batchelor, and Vulula Long Batchelor.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Before retirement, he worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation. Freddie loved to fish and mow grass for individuals.

His sister, Mary Elizabeth Batchelor Carswell, and brother, Joseph Wendell Batchelor preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruby King Batchelor of Monticello; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Lisa Batchelor of Monticello; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Gene Spivey of Monticello, and Jane and Scott Poteet of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Melissa Norton, Cliff Thomaston, Andrew Thomaston, Jeremy Poteet, and Melinda Poteet; great grandchildren, Paige Norton, Dillon Norton, Shelby Thomaston, and Landon Thomaston; and brother, Gene Batchelor of Morrow.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 20, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment was held in West View Cemetery. Rev. John McDuffie and Rev. John Hamilton officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were Cliff Thomaston, Andrew Thomaston, Jason Norton, Jeremy Poteet, Michael Gotel, and Melvin Campbell.
