The junior Knights and Lady Knights, made up of players 12 and under, split games at Lake Oconee Academy last Thursday, with the girls coming out on top 28-8 and the boys losing 28-9.
In the girls game, Maddy Davidson and McKenzie Tolbert led a stellar post attack with 12 points each while guards Erin Carter and Rachael Jackson had 2 points apiece. The junior girls finished their season with a perfect 9-0 record.
The junior Knights suffered from shooting woes, having trouble making baskets. Parker Wyatt led SCA with 4. Will Mitchell and Austin Cumbess had 2, and Nathan Crawford rounded out the scoring with 1. The junior Knights finished their season with a 2-8 record for a young team with a majority of its players set to return.
The middle school Lady Knights and Knights hoop squads headed to Macon last weekend for the Macon Area invitational tournament.
The girls won their opener on Friday against St. George Episcopal 45-13 with a stifling full-court defense. Davidson led with 16 while Jackson added 10. Bre Cleveland scored 7 for the Lady Knights, and Ambriel Wyatt had 6. Carter also had 4 and Tolbert 2.

The boys team received a bye in Friday’s first round action as a result of being the second seeded team in the tournament.
In Saturday’s action, the Lady Knights played two games and lost both. In morning action, SCA fell behind 23-2 against an aggressive number 1 seed, Sacred Heart School. The ladies from Shiloh refused to give up, and cut the lead to four with less than two minutes to play, before falling 33-26 as the Lady Crusaders made some crucial free throws down the stretch. Jackson was the top scorer for SCA with 9, followed by Tolbert, 7, Cleveland, 6, and Davidson, 4.
The loss dropped the Lady Knights into the consolation bracket where, that afternoon, they faced the Lady Mustangs of Macon Area. In a tightly contested game that saw numerous lead changes, SCA lost a heartbreaker by the final of 25-23 with the Lady Knights missing several opportunities in the last seconds to win or tie the game.
Jackson once again led with 13, while Cleveland added 8, and Wyatt finished the scoring with 2. While the Lady Knights did not place at the tournament, they had a great season which saw them improve greatly on defense and at running the fast break offense and allowed them to finish with a 7-6 record.
In boys tournament action, the Knights matched up Saturday morning with Sherwood Christian Academy most famous for their family-friendly Christian movies like Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous. Director and Producer Alex Kendrick has a son on the team and was present at the tournament where many Shiloh players and their families got to meet him and have their picture made with him.
In a game fitting of a movie script, Shiloh and Sherwood battled back and forth through regulation and then four overtimes before the Knights finally prevailed 62-53 with three Sherwood starters fouling out. SCA was led by Lawson with 24 and Sorrells with 16. Clark followed with 8, along with Whitlock with 5, and Dahod with 4. Other scorers were Mitchell with 3 and Young, 2. The win moved the Knights into the championship game against the St. George Dragons who had already given Shiloh two of its three losses on the season.
The Dragons experienced, well-shooting team proved once again to be too much for the Knights as they rolled to a 66-26 win. Lawson led once again with 12 points. Kelly Yeomans scored 6, while Sorrells had 4, Dahod added 2, and Young and Justin Nelson added 1 each.
The Knights finished second in the six team tournament and won the school’s first athletic trophy to start the SCA trophy case. The team is now 11-4 and concluded its season with a Tuesday home game hosting Sinclair Christian Academy from Milledgeville.
