Melissa Octivis Webb

Funeral services for Melissa Octivis Webb, 31, who died January 29, 2012, were held February 4 at new Enon Baptist Church in Godfrey. Revs. Albert Baker and J.M. Stutton officiated.

Ms. Webb was born June 13, 1980 to and Agnes Ross Webb.

She was a 1999 graduate of Newton County High School where she received a full scholarship to play basketball at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. She also attended Athens Technical College studying to be a dental assistant.

She was a manager for McDonald’s in Madison until her health failed.

She was baptized on December 5, 2010 at New Enon Baptist Church in Godfrey. Ms. Webb was known as a delight to be around, and always lifted those up when they were down.

She was a very loving mother to her only son, Phillip Malik Crawford. The two were inseparable and Ms. Webb was an active parent at her son’s football and basketball games. She loved sports and was a sports mom.

Survivors, in addition to her son, include her mother, Agnes Ross Webb; grandmother, Noami Martin Ross; brother, Eddie Tobias Webb; and sister, Valencia Webb, all of Shady Dale, a godson, Jamarien Baker of Covington; special companion, Shamir Gude of Shady Dale; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
