Lady Cougars Win Region Opener

The Piedmont Academy Lady Cougars kept their season alive Tuesday with a 30-26 win against Monsignor Donovan in the opening round of the Region 1-AA tournament.

Piedmont led by nine points after the third quarter and then held on in the final eight minutes for the win. The Lady Cougars also led 17-12 at halftime.

Hailey Burnham and Heather Tyler both scored nine points to lead coach Wes Tanner’s team while Anna Jones scored six key points. Lucy Strickland and Kacy Swart both added three points.

The Lady Cougars are slated to play Gatewood today, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m.
