Chase Results in Crash and Arrest

Timothy Alvin Little of Buckhead, was arrested Saturday by a deputy of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, driving on wrong side of road, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, and failure to maintain lane.

According to information received from the JCSO the deputy attempted to stop Mr. Little for a traffic violation on Hwy. 142, but he refused to stop and a high speed chase ensued, moving onto Hwy. 16 and into Putnam County. Just after Mr. Little crossed the Little River Bridge, he lost control, left the road and crashed into a tree, the report said.

As the deputy approached the vehicle he observed Mr. Little throw something out of the car window, the report said. The item was recovered and determined to be cocaine, and afterwards marijuana was found on Mr. Little.

Mr. Little remains in the Jasper County Jail awaiting a first appearance in court.

Also, during the period of January 30 through February 5, the JCSO reported the following criminal activity:

•On February 5 a resident on South Railroad Street in Shady Dale reported the theft of currency, personal papers, a bank bag and a safe deposit box key.

•On February 2 a resident on Sandpiper Drive in west Jasper County reported the theft of currency and coins, drivers license, social security card, debit card, silver mio money card, Georgia EPPI Card, Medicaid card, car title, two knives, keys, backpack and a set of gold earrings.

•On February 1, a resident on Hwy 142 in Newborn reported the theft of a Smith & Wesson .22 caliber revolver in a brown holster, cash, jewelry, IPOD (2), digital camera (2), nintendo (4), laptop computer, games, and two televisions.

•On January 30 a resident on Brazey Road in Monticello reported the theft of an outside air conditioning unit, a window unit, a refrigerator, a storage container, copper tubing and an oven door.

In addition, during the period of January 31 through February 7, the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Elizabeth Shantell Hegwood, 28, Monticello—hold for warrant in Rockdale County.

•Travis Brown, 27, Atlanta—Jasper County Probate Court Bench Warrant.

•Darryl Cheeves, Jr., 37, Milledgeville—failure to maintain lane and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

•Thomas Sage Allen, 17, Covington—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Alex Edward Robertson, 19, Social Circle—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Jacob Andrew Casteel, 20, Covington—operation of vehicle without current plate and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•David Allen Nash, Jr., 23, Conyers—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

•Tony Steven Wallace, Jr., 21, Mansfield—aggravated assault and criminal damage to property in the first degree.

•Darryle Eugene Day, 49, Monticello—hold for warrant in Walton County.

•John David Slaughter, 45, Conyers—littering, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and speeding.

•Ersel Michael Belcher, 27, Milledgeville—probation violation.

•Mark Edward Pringle, 28, Covington—probation violation and driving while license suspended or revoked.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 174 calls for service including 68 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 14 subject needs officer, eight mechanical breakdown, seven each domestic and accident, six each alarm, and trouble unknown, five vandalism of property, four each burglary, assist motorist, livestock on road, escort or convoy and road hazard, three juvenile complaint, two each speeding auto, pickup prisoner, welfare check, abandoned vehicle and identity fraud/theft, one each hit and run, fire/other, fire/ structure, chase in progress theft by taking, be on the look out, child abuse/molestation, deliver emergency message, discharge firearms, entering auto, music/noise complaint, theatening/harassing calls, persons refuse to leave and attempt to serve warrant.

The Monticello Police Department did not report any arrests during the above mentioned period, however, they did report responding to 68 calls for service including 17 escort or convoy, 10 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six subject needs officer, five assist motorist, three juvenile complaint, two each speeding auto, direct traffic, discharge firearms, entering auto, threatening/harassing calls and vandalism of property, one each alarm accident, mechanical break down, theft by taking, fracture, fall, child abuse/molestation, welfare check private property, music/noise complaint, trespassing seizure, abandoned vehicle and persons refuse to leave.

During this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of William Harden Moree, 23, of Albany, and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
