James Thomas Mooty

James Thomas Mooty, 65, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at his residence in Monticello.

Mr. Mooty was born in Atlanta to the late William Arnold Mooty and Clara Nell Bales Mooty. He lived in Gwinnett County for a number of years before moving to Jasper County 20 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He owned and operated Mooty Trucking. Mr. Mooty worked seven years as the motor grader operator for the Jasper County Public Works.

He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Eugene Mooty.

Survivors include his children, Jeffrey Thomas Mooty, Melinda Renee Cook, and James Asbury Mooty, all of Monticello; grandchildren, Micah Thomas Cook, Matthew Thurman Cook, Amaya Renee Cook, Eva Hope Hulsey, and Elizabeth Grace Hulsey; and brother, Robert “Butch” Bales of Pasadena, Texas.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
