Gun and Jewelry Taken in Burglary
A private home was burglarized after a forced entry last Thursday, Jan. 26, and numerous items were taken, according to an incident report by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
The crime took place on Hwy. 16 East and was reported to the JCSO at approximately 5 p.m. Missing is a Ruger revolver with wooden handles and an extra cylinder in a red bag, all in a black zippered carrying case.
The following assorted jewelry was also taken: gold Hamilton pocket watch that opens from the back, a silver Walthem pocket watch with a train on the front, silver Tiffany cuff links, various other sets of cuff links, men’s gold wedding band with triangular shaped diamonds, a white gold 1977 Rockdale County class ring with victim’s name inside, a gold ring with victim’s initials on it, various fire department pins and a dark wood two drawer jewelry box.
A reward is offered for the recovery and return of those items.
Other criminal activity reported by the JCSO during the period of January 22 through 26 are as follows:

•On January 26 a resident on Davidson Road in Shady Dale reported the theft of a metal wagon, a Craftsman riding mower, scrap mower parts and a metal barrel.
•On January 26 a resident on Apt-To-Miss Road reported a burglary with no specified items as missing.
•On January 24 a resident on Blue Heron Drive in Alcovy Shores reported suspected stolen property with no particular item(s) specified.
•On January 24 the owner of property on Sandpiper Drive in Alcovy Shores reported the rental property had been burglarized with no items taken specified.
•On January 23 a resident on East Mourning Dove Court in Turtle Cove reported a pontoon boat as missing.

•Randy Lee Hinds, 20, Monticello—probation violation.
•Morris Clarence Savage, 44, Bowman—disorderly conduct.
•Jonathan Matthew Tallent, 19, Monticello—furnishing/purchase/possession of alcohol by person under 21 years of age.
•William Justin Wilson, 20, Garden City—hold for warrant in Henry County
•Joseph Candler Hyde, 27, Monticello—criminal damage to property in the second degree.
•Michael Dean Vickers, 22, Monticello—probation violation.
•Christopher Melvin Rhey, 37, Monticello—probation violation.
•Robin Reynolds Davis, 40, Milledgeville—hold for warrant in Baldwin County.
•Hadley Luke Jackson, 30, Monticello—driving on a suspended or revoked license.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 164 calls for service including 59 stopping suspicious person/vehicle,13 subject needs officer, 10 assist motorist, nine alarm, six accident and livestock on road, five each mechanical break down and argument, four each burglary, escort or convoy, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, and attempt to serve warrant, three speeding auto and vandalism of property, two each abandoned vehicle and 911 hang up, one each dog disturbance, domestic, fire/other, fire/vehicle, theft by taking, EMS, deliver emergency message, welfare check, four wheeler, counterfeit, dead on arrival, harassing phone calls, trespassing and identity fraud.
During the same period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) arrested Michael Oneal Lyons, 45, of Monticello, and charged him with public drunkenness.
Also during this period, the Georgia State Patrol arrested Jason Daniel Penney 26, of Covington and charged him with driving under the influence.
Also during this period officers with the MPD responded to 57 calls for service including 14 escort or convoy, 11 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, five subject needs officer, three alarm, two each intoxicated pedestrian, assault, argument and persons refuse to leave, one each dog disturbance, domestic, assist motorist, speeding auto, live stock on road, theft by taking, fracture, EMS, crowd disbursement, welfare check, counterfeit, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, checking location and attempt to serve warrant.
