John Edward Voyles
John Edward Voyles, 81, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Voyles was born in Atlanta, to the late Addie Belle Townsend Voyles and James Homer Voyles, Sr. He lived and farmed in Clayton County for a number of years and was a former employee of Otis Elevator. After moving to Monticello over 40 years ago, he owned and operated a farm. Mr. Voyles was prison warden and road superintendent for Jasper County for a number of years. He was among the founding parents of Piedmont Academy and was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church.
His brothers, Robert Townsend Voyles, Sr., and James Homer Voyles, Jr., and sister, Margurite Carteron, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Bonita Jolley Voyles of Monticello; sons and daughters-in-law, Blake Edward and Kim Voyles of Douglas, Dwight Alan and Jennie Voyles of Douglasville, and Clint Wade and Tina Voyles of Monticello; grandchildren, C.J. Voyles, Kristen Voyles, Travis Voyles, Wade Voyles, Lauren Voyles, and Kelsey Voyles; and great-grandchildren, Johnathan Voyles, Jade Voyles, and Hunter Voyles.
The family will receive friends in memory of John E. Voyles on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, 2 until 4 p.m., at the Fellowship Hall of the Monticello Baptist Church.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello Baptist Church, 334 W. Greene Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
