George Luther Hill, Sr.
George Luther Hill, Sr., of Eatonton, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Putnam General Hospital.
Mr. Hill was born in Seneca Township, S.C., and at the age of 18, moved to Eatonton. His father was the late O.B. Hill, Sr. Before retirement, he owned and operated Rooty Creek Dairy. He was a member of Chosen Church of God in Eatonton.
His daughter, Amy Denise Hill, and three sisters, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Ogletree Hill of Eatonton; children, George Luther Hill, Jr. of Greensboro, Teresa Hardie and Charolotte Stapler, both of Eatonton, and Barbara Juanita Hill of Milledgeville; mother, Lona Ruth Adams Steward of Statham; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers and sister, Chester Lee Hill and Stacey Steward of Statham, Joe Hill of Bethlehem, William Hill of Milledgeville, and Clarence Hill, O.B. Hill, Jr., and Janie Wilson, all of Greensboro.
Funeral services were held, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale. Interment was held in the church cemetery. Rev. Wilse Davis officiated.
Pallbearers were Chris Hardie, Jake Hardie, Cody Hill, James Hill, Hugh Wilson, Clarence Hill, Robert Cody, and Jason Tew.
