Christmas Section Is Planned

Christmas is right around the corner, and one holiday tradition is the Letters to Santa section of The Monticello News.
The section features letters that Jasper County children have written to Santa, saying what they want him to bring them for Christmas.
It also features advertisements from local merchants, businesses, elected officials and others who want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and/or thank their customers for their support in the previous year.
This year, The News staff also hopes to include some photos of the little ones with Santa or personal Christmas wishes from individuals or families to others in the community. For a small fee, anyone can place a photo or special message in the section.

The News has arranged to get Santa letters from Jasper County Pre-School and Primary School, Piedmont Academy, Miss Kay’s Day Care and Monticello Baptist Church. However, other letters are welcomed.
Any child who will not write a letter through one of those avenues is invited to send his or her letter straight to The News, P.O. Box 30, Monticello, GA 31064 or e-mail to news@themonticellonews.com.
Of course, The News staff has already made arrangements to be certain a copy of the section reaches Mr. Claus on Thursday, the same day local subscribers get the paper.
The News staff is also busy trying to contact local businesses and others who might like to advertise. Unfortunately, The News staff is not nearly as magical and efficient as Santa’s elves at the North Pole, so all interested persons are encouraged to contact The News, 706-468-6511, to be sure their message is not left out.
The deadline for anything to be included in next week’s Monticello News—regular paper or special Santa section—is 5 p.m. Monday. Dec. 19. Earlier submissions would be greatly appreciated.
