Shiloh Splits in Rematch vs. Macon

The Shiloh Christian Academy Knights and Lady Knights opened their home middle school basketball schedule last Thursday with a win and a loss.

The boys final score was 35 -32, while the girls game up a little short, falling 21-16.

In the boys game, the Knights raced out to a 27-16 halftime lead over the visiting Mustangs from Macon, led by early fast break points from Matthew Lawson and Kelly Yeomans. The second half saw Macon Area tighten the game and even take a lead as Shiloh struggled with some foul trouble that caused the offense to stagnate.

A strong fourth period led by center Justin Clark, who scored all six of his points in that quarter allowed the Knights to pull away with a three point win as the Mustangs three point shot at the buzzer rimmed out.

Scoring in addition to Clark, included Lawson with 13, Yeomans with 10, David Sorrells had 4, and Sam Mitchell finished with 2.

The Shiloh boys now have three wins and no losses for the year and play Westside Baptist of Warner Robins and Middle Georgia Christian of Macon this week. Next Tuesday, Dec. 13 the boys play Grace Christian, at Turner Lake Park in Covington, at 3:30 p.m. to finish the pre-Christmas part of the schedule.

In the girls action, a very tight game was a repeat of the season opener for the Lady Knights when the two teams met in Macon.

The teams were tied at six at halftime as the Shiloh girls were getting many open looks at the basket but could not get the shots to fall. The offensive woes continued in the second half as the Lady Knights added only 10 points while the Lady Mustangs took advantage of some easy put backs off of offensive rebounds and hit some timely free throws to take the 21-16 win.

Shiloh had a balanced scoring attack with Rachael Jackson, Bre Cleveland, and Lorin Crawford all scoring four points each, while McKenzie Tolbert and Maddy Davidson had two each.

The Lady Knights record is now one and two with a home match-up with Westside Baptist planned on Tuesday and a trip to Macon this Friday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.
