Loss For Words
I just don’t know what to say.
Really, there have been instances in my life when a friend or acquaintance will share something with me and my response will be, well, a complete loss of words.
You would think that I, being a woman, would have a quick anecdote or wisdom to share in almost any circumstance.
And since that is not always true, I have found myself staring blankly at that poor person in such need. I was even told once that I looked like a deer in the headlights (that one still stings).
Have you ever waited to share that one nagging issue with a special friend, only to find them giving you advice that didn’t help at all?
Hopefully, you’re not nodding your head and thinking of me while you’re reading this. You do realize that there are people out there that haven’t been through things that you have, and are not going through what you are right now, don’t you?
Sometimes, the Lord will give me wisdom to share, or I have actually been in a situation and can relate, but there are those times when I am clueless.
So, do you know what I do when I draw that blank? I say, “Let’s pray about that right now.”
God knows the answer. There are times in our lives that there is no way we could possibly know the outcome of a situation, or for that matter, what situation to put ourselves into.
It’s awesome that God allows us to make choices (He especially loves it when we choose Him!), but most of us don’t wait for Him to help us make that choice.
Therefore, we end up in a place in our lives, and we have no idea which way to turn.
I also know that bad things happen to good people and that there are times in which we are thrown into the lion’s den with no warning. And at that point, we find ourselves asking our wisest friends for the advice to get us through.
Although I do believe in asking for advice, I want to urge you to not let your advisor be the ultimate authority in your decision. Please go to the Big Guy in prayer.
His love for you is so complete and is so true. If that friend you asked gave you bad advice and you took it, well, they go on living and you suffer the consequences.
With the Lord, He continually strives to pull you to the light no matter the pain, no matter how long it takes, and no matter the bad choices. He loves you…. And so do I.
Peace and Love, Cheryl
