Man Gets 10 Years for Selling Drugs

Quantez D. Jackson was in Jasper Superior Court Tuesday, with Judge William A. Prior, presiding.

Facing outstanding charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and the sale of cocaine, Mr. Jackson pled guilty to the first two charges and was sentenced to 10 years on each count, to run concurrent. He was also sentenced to serve five years of the 10 year sentence before the remainder could be served on probation, providing certain conditions are met.

Mr. Jackson was also fined $1,832. He is currently free, but was ordered to report to the Jasper County Jail by 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, to begin serving his sentence.

Dean Kilby also pled guilty to terroristic threats and acts, and was sentenced to one year with credit for time served since August 10, 2011.

Also, last week, on November 8, in Superior Court, with Judge Prior presiding, the following cases were processed with details as shown below:

•Adam Lawrence Baker had his probation revoked for the new charges of failing to report as directed and failing to pay as directed. Mr. Baker was sentenced to serve 45 days in the county jail with credit for time served since October 7, 2011, and to be placed on intensive probation status for six months.

•William Hank Justin Wilson, who was serving a 12 month sentence on probation for the charge of theft by taking, was found to have violated the terms and conditions of his probation by failing to report and to pay as directed, and failing to show proof of completing values clarification class. He was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county jail with credit for time served since October 26, 2011. This sentence shall be suspended upon payment of $1,500 that is in arrears, and upon so doing return to active probation with all conditions intact.

•Matthew Jackson had his probation revoked for the new charges of simple battery, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and failure to pay fines and fees of $1,615. Mr. Jackson was sentenced to serve 120 days in the county jail with an end date of his sentence on July 4, 2012.

•George C. Robinson pled guilty to driving under the influence less safe and possession of marijuana—sentenced to 12 months probation on each charge, to run concurrent.

In addition, on Friday, November 4, Jasper County Magistrate Court convened with Judge Kenneth G. Jackson, presiding, and the following cases were processed:

•Victoria Brown pled not guilty to disorderly conduct, and was scheduled for a bench trial.

•Krystyna Gayle Martin pled nolo to the charge of disorderly conduct and was fined $210, 12 months probation and ordered to do community service.
