Concerning his new team, Coach Scott said, “We’ve been getting after it in practice, and we have got decent talent, size, and our kids are working extremely hard. I won’t mention any team leaders at this time, but we will announce team captains prior to the game on Friday. Right now they are competing for starting positions, and if the kids continue to work as a team we will be fine.”

The first game of the season will be versus non-region opponent, Jackson, and tip off will immediately follow the conclusion of the Lady ‘Canes’ who will tip off at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Nov. 19, the teams will travel to Thomson, with the Lady ‘Canes tipping off at 5 p.m. and the boys immediately following. After these first two games the teams will take the Thanksgiving break and continue action on November 26 in Jackson.

In summing up, Coach Scott said, “We have set our goals high and do look to compete for the region title this year. We’ll take it one game at a time as we try to meet that goal, and we hope the public will come out and join us.”

A meet and greet was held Saturday for the basketball team, and a number of people went out and met the new coach as well as the players.
