Lettye Proctor Greer

Lettye Proctor Greer, 84, of Monticello, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Greer was born in Milledgeville to the late Hershel Proctor and Ollie Elizabeth Mullinax Proctor. She was a longtime resident of Monticello. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Greer worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for a number of years at Jasper Memorial Hospital. After her late husband, James Harold Greer, died in 1981, Mrs. Greer ran for his position at the Jasper County Probate Court. She served as Probate Judge for 11 years until her retirement in 1992.

Six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Michael H. “Bubba” Greer of Monticello; granddaughter, Amy E. Key of Monticello; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby L. and Belle Greer of Monticello; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Carter officiated.

Pallbearers will be Mike Manville, James McMichael, Dwayne Morgan, Robbie Key, Bob Tuggle, H.C. “Buddy” Tucker, III,
