Morgan Mote-Patterson Is JCHS Queen

JCHS 2011 HOMECOMING COURT AND ESCORTS AT ROSE BOWL FIELD

Morgan Mote-Patterson was crowned Jasper County High School’s homecoming queen and Ami Labriola was crowned Miss Hurricane Friday night during the halftime festivities at Rose Bowl field. Sharika Pennamon was named first runner-up to the homecoming queen.

Miss Mote-Patterson was voted on by the entire JCHS student body and Miss Labriola was chosen by the members of the student government. The homecoming queen and Miss Hurricane were crowned by last year’s queens Samantha Parden and Pamela Harris.

Other members of the homecoming court were freshmen Heather Anderson and Ke’Maria Wilson, sophomores Emily Axman, Heather Harrison, and Shelby Wilkins, juniors Olivia Aldridge, Miricale Hardwick, MacKenzie Mote-Patterson, and Ke’ausha Warren, and seniors Brittany Shumway, Quintara Standifer and Kristin Westbrook.

The crowning of the queens came after an eventful homecoming week at the school in which the Class of 2013 claimed the “spirit stick” for the school. The junior class won the spirit link contest and the hall decorating contest, as well as the percentage of participants in the dress-up days contests. Overall, the FFA won the float contest in the parade, but the second place award went to the senior class, who earned points toward the spirit award. The sophomore class won the contests. The sophomore and junior class powder puff team defeated the freshmen and senior class team in the powder puff game Thursday evening after the parade. Overall, the powder puff game turned out to be a great fund raiser for the Class of 2013 and the prom committee.

The homecoming festivities came to a close Saturday evening with the homecoming dance at JCHS.

Members of the Class of 2013 and its advisors expressed appreciation to the students, faculty and staff who participated in the homecoming festivities. They also expressed appreciation to the parents and members of the community who helped organize and carry out the various homecoming activities.
