Sheriff’s K-9 Sniffs Out Drugs

While responding to a call of a suspicious person on Hwy. 11 North last week, a deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) had the department’s K-9 walk around the vehicle of Jessica Sprayberry.

After the K-9 indicated there were drugs on the driver side door of the vehicle, a search revealed a small baggie containing an amount of suspected methamphetamine. Ms. Sprayberry was charged with possession of meth.

The JCSO also reported the following criminal activity during the period of September 27 through October 3:

•On October 3 a resident on Parrot Drive in Turtle Cove reported the theft of an XBOX Elite model.

•On October 1 a resident on Concord Road in Shady Dale reported the theft of an air conditioning unit, a furnace motor, a hot water heater and electric wire.

•On September 30 a resident on Eagle View Drive reported the theft of a Rainbow vacuum cleaner.

•On September 27 a resident on Brazey Road reported the theft of JVC CD player.

Also, during the period of September 27 through October 27, the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Meredith Unee Craven, 40, Covington—possession of cocaine.

•Kenneth Dewey Manns, Jr., 59, Monticello—possession of cocaine and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

•Misty Autumn Vigreax, 37, Mansfield—insurance fraud.

•Mary Elizabeth Lopez, 18, Shady Dale—battery.

•Tressie Shelleen Alsabrook, 33, Shady Dale—battery.

•Emmanuel Togba, 26, Monticello—rape.

•Jeffrey Wayne Curvin, 37, Monticello—simple battery.

•Maria Darlene Curvin, 42, Mansfield—hold for warrant in Butts County.

•Teri Lynn Morgan, 54, Monticello—pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Timothy Wayne Norris, 38, Rex—child molestation, aggravated child molestation and cruelty to children.

•Timothy Dwain Conner, 28, Covington—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Dawne Marie Slater, 45, Monticello—false imprisonment, cruelty to children in the third degree, burglary and terroristic threats and acts.

•Jessica Virginia Mixter, 31, Macon—hold for warrant in Bibb County.

•Angel Rafeal Hernandex, 29, Fort Valley—homicide by vehicle.

•Marvis Armel Wyman, 30, Monticello—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 132 calls for service including 26 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 13 alarm, 12 subject needs officer, 10 accident, nine road hazard, seven assist motorist, five domestic, four each trouble unknown and argument, three each prowler report, theft by taking, juvenile complaint and vandalism of property.

Also, two each speeding auto, intoxicated driver, mechanical break down, pick up prisoner, extra patrol, welfare check threatening/harassing calls, trespassing and abandoned vehicle, one each burglary, fire/brush, assault, lift assist invalid, missing person, discharge firearms, entering auto, private property, music/noise complaint, VGCSA, utility department needed and illegal dumping/littering.

During the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) did not report any arrests, however, officers with the MPD reported responding to 78 calls for service including 25 stopping suspicious person/vehicle and 18 escort or convoy.

Also, four subject needs officer, three mechanical break down, two each alarm, domestic, juvenile complaint and trespassing, one each fight, dog disturbance, prowler report, burglary, accident, intoxicated pedestrian, direct traffic, fire/other, fire/structure, wanted/stolen indicated, miscellaneous EMS, assault, lift invalid, extra patrol, private property, music/noise complaint, vandalism of property, transport of patient, utility department needed and 911 hang up.
