Hilda Allen Ayers

Hilda Allen Ayers, 70, of Monticello, formerly of Covington, died October 2, 2011.

Mrs. Ayers was a former employee of Main Street Bank in Covington and McIntosh State Bank in Monticello. She enjoyed eating out and shopping, as well as visiting with her family and friends. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, John Grady Ayers; parents, L.D. and Sis Allen; and her brothers, Jerry Allen, Frank Allen, and J.L. Allen.

Survivors include her daughter, Johnna Pope, and her husband, Donnie; sons, Todd Poteet, and his wife, Nena, all of Monticello, Scott Poteet, and his wife, Jane of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sisters, Margie Allen of Porterdale, Linda Sorrow, and her husband, James of Jersey; brothers, Pete Allen, and his wife, Pat, Tony Allen, and his wife, Judy, Charles Allen, and his wife, Cathy, all of Covington; grandchildren, Jeremy Poteet, Melinda Poteet, Holly Poteet, Hunter Poteet, Loren Pope, Boone Pope.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ayers were held Tuesday, October 4, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Jeremy Tondee officiating, and interment followed in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
