Piedmont Cross Country Faces Brentwood

The Piedmont Academy cross country teams traveled to Brentwood in Sandersville last week.

Mack Brady took first in the junior varsity boys race in 10:23 for a 1.5-mile event. A total of 25 runners competed in this division.

“The trail at their school was much harder and the heat played a factor that day,” said coach Traci Brady. “Everyone finished but it was a tough one.”

Austin Bass (23:05) was 14th for the varsity boys. Samuel McGinnis (27:12) and Andrew Mitchell (30.44) were the next Piedmont runners to complete the race.

A total of 45 runners competed in the varsity boys race.

Lynne Marie Edwards was 16th overall for the Lady Cougars in the varsity girls competition. She finished the course in 30:08. Lanie King (31:31), Emmie Kelly (31:50) and Savannah McGinnis (34:44) also paced the varsity girls.

Twenty-nine runners took part in the varsity girls race. Varsity races are 5K.

In addition to Mack Brady’s first-place showing, Chase Treadwell completed the JV race in 12:07.

Alina Jablonski paced the junior varsity Lady Cougars in 13:26 followed by Anne Marie Hildebrant (14:41), Ivy English (15:21) and Blakely Arp (18:12).
