Kim Roberts Gets 13 Right in Second Week

GRACE ROBERTS ACCEPTS PRIZE FROM HEADMASTER TONY TANNER

The second week of The Monticelo News football contest proved as popular as the first with more than 200 players vying for a $25 prize from Piedmont Academy.

Kim Roberts was the lucky winner, correctly guessing the winner in 13 of the 15 games listed last week.

Mrs. Roberts is a veteran who has played for years, and has passed her love for the game on to her children, including Grace, a student at Piedmont Academy who accepted mom’s prize for her Monday.

Mrs. Roberts missed on two pro picks, correctly guessing the winner of all the high school and college games listed. The pros proved to be tough for a lot of players, but the Georgia faithful were also disappointed when the dogs fell to South Carolina Saturday.

A dozen people had their names added to the grand prize honor roll for a chance at a four-ticket grand prize package to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta. Herb Clason is the first player this year to have two chances at the grand prize, by virtue of being the only player to make the honor roll last week and this week.

This week, one lucky player will pick up a prize worth $25 from the Monticello Pawn Shop, this week’s prize sponsor. Anyone can play, and anyone can win. But, entries must reach The Monticello News office, 237 West Washington Street, Monticello, no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 16. And, the winner needs to be available to have his or her photo made Monday.
