C. Fields Wins First Football Contest

Clint Fields of Hillsboro was the winner of the first week’s Monticello News football contest, correctly guessing the winner of 14 of the 15 games listed in the contest.
For his effort, Mr. Fields picked up a $25 prize from the Bank of Monticello. Clint was not available to pick up his prize Tuesday, so he sent his little brother, Justin Fields who collected the prize from Anne Spivey at the bank.
Both the younger and older Mr. Fields are regular contest players.
The only game the winner missed on was the South Florida/Notre Dame match-up. Mr. Fields thought the fighting Irish would win, but South Florida was the winner, 23-20.
Although some of the players in Bulldog country had confidence in the Dawgs, none of those with 13 or 14 right picked Georgia to win. Only one of the seven with 13 right picked Monticello to beat Jackson.
This week, another player will pick up a $25 prize from sponsor, Piedmont Academy.
Those who get 12 or more right will have their name added to the grand prize honor roll for a chance to win tickets to the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Remember, the deadline to enter this week is 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 9. Fax entries to 706-468-6576 or deliver to The Monticello News office, 237 W. Washington St., Monticello.
