Three Trials End in Guilty Verdicts

A jury trial was conducted last week in Jasper Superior Court with Judge Hugh V. Wingfield, III, presiding.

Justin L. Bostic, who was being tried on the charges of sale of cocaine and possession of marijuana was found not guilty on the felony charge of sale of cocaine, however a guilty verdict was found on the misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

He was sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and given credit for time served.

In a bench trial Chad L. Plymel was found guilty of driving under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs and open container, and was sentenced to 12 months probation with 24 hours to serve, 40 hours of community service, fines and fees of $745 and ordered to attend DUI school.

Eric W. Page was found guilty in a non-jury trial of driving under the influence less safe and reckless driving. Mr. Page was sentenced to 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and fines and fees of $800.

This past Tuesday, August 23, in Superior Court with Judge William A Pryor, Jr., presiding, Mr. Bostic was once again on the calendar.

The conviction last week on the misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana was enough to convince the court that Mr. Bostic had violated his parole, which came from a conviction on sale of cocaine in February, 2008, on which he was still serving probation for.

Consequently, Mr. Bostic had his probation revoked and was ordered to serve the balance of this probated sentence in the county jail with an end date of February 26, 2012.

Also in court this past Tuesday, Travis Dewayne Williams, who was on probation for conviction of the charges of obstruction of an officer fleeing or attempting to elude and reckless driving in April of 2009, had his probation for the new charges of obstruction of an officer (three counts) and simple battery.

Mr. Williams was sentenced to serve the remaining time of his probation in the county jail with and end date of March 22, 2012.

In an unusual twist, there is no court scheduled for the next two weeks in Jasper.
