Man Charged with Kidnapping

Alonzo D. Standifer was arrested Saturday by deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and charged with kidnapping and simple battery.

According to the JCSO the arrest came after Mr. Standifer drove to an address on Stroz Drive and forced the female victim, his ex-girlfriend, into his vehicle then drove to an address on Funderburg Drive where he put her into a storage building. The simple battery charge came as a result of visible injuries on the lip, finger and knees of the victim.

Mr. Standifer bonded out of the Jasper County Jail Monday.

Also, during the period of August 15 through August 21, the JCSO reported the following criminal activity:

•On August 21, a resident on Chestnut Road reported the theft of a boat trailer for a 14 foot jon boat.

•On August 20, a property owner on Anna Claire Court reported the theft of a black electric range and a black electric dish washer.

•On August 20, a resident on Herring Gull Court in Alcovy Shores reported the theft of a Marlin rifle with scope, a metal ammo box containing several types of ammo, loaded ammo magazines, a Bear hunting bow with arrows and a memory card from a trail camera.

•On August 20, a resident on Liberty Church Road reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle.

•On August 18, a resident on Sandpiper Drive in Alcovy Shores reported the theft of an air conditioning unit.

•On August 17, a property owner on Herds Creek Road reported the theft of two six-foot rolls of horse fence.

•On August 17, a resident on Cason Lane reported the theft of an air compressor and a tire changer.

•On August 16, a resident on East Morning Dove in Turtle Cove reported forced entry had been made through a side door but nothing was reported missing.

•On August 16, a property owner on Starling Drive in Turtle Cove reported the theft of a Rheem heat pump.

•On August 16, a resident on Bethel Church Road reported the theft of a central air conditioning unit.

•On August 16 a resident on East Mourning Dove Court in Turtle Cove reported the theft of car radio face plate and remote.

•On August 15, a resident on Hwy. 83 North reported the theft of an electric stove, a microwave, window air conditioning units, a black pot belly wood stove, a Pro Tech fly spray unit and a Buck stove/fireplace insert.

In addition, during the period of August 16 through 23 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Rogelio Cruz, Sr., 32, Monticello—cruelty to children (two counts) and battery.

•Amanda Sue Custer, 32, Monticello—false statements and writings.

•Randy Lee Heath, 30, Conyers—probation violation.

•Efrain Mendoza Ortiz, 23, Shady Dale—speeding and license violation.

•David Lamar Mitchell, 47, Monticello—probation violation.

•Ashley Nicole Falbe, 26, Mansfield—possession/manufacture/distribution of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

Jacob Bruce O’Neill, 31, Mansfield—possession/manufacture/distribution of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

•Sanchinez Marcio Sims, 23, Monroe—hold for warrant in Walton Co.

•Alonzo Devonta Standifer, 21, Monticello—kidnapping and simple battery.

•Anthony Eugene Parker, 26, Monticello—simple battery.

•Emily Gail Medina, 21, Jackson—theft by receiving stolen property.

•Darren Mitchell Greer, 46. Griffin—probation violation.

•Ivan Bailey, 66, Monticello—criminal trespass

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 161 calls for service including 23 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 16 subject needs officer, 10 theft by taking, seven each domestic and alarm, six accident, five each burglary, mechanical break down and vandalism of property.

Also, four each juvenile complaint and trouble unknown, three each fight, pick up prisoner, threatening/harassing calls and argument, two each dog disturbances, assist motorist, speeding auto, escort or convoy, and property found, one each prowler report, direct traffic, chase in progress, special detail, mental person, wanted/stolen indicated, dead deer on road, extra patrol, welfare check four wheeler, child custody case, discharge firearms, entering auto, possible suicide, kidnapping, music/noise complaint, road hazard, VGCSA and request DNR.

During the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests

• Christopher Lance Fowler, 45, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Myra Ann Prevatt, 25, Monticello—hold for warrant in Baldwin County.

• Ellis Ammons, 19, Monticello—disorderly conduct and affray.

Also during this period officers with the MPD responded to 64 calls for service including 14 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 12 escort or convoy, four alarm, three each accident and theft by taking.

Also, two each domestic, speeding auto, welfare check, subject needs officer and road hazard, one each fight, dog disturbance, direct traffic, pick up prisoner, fall, extra patrol, juvenile complaint, possible suicide, kidnapping, checking location, attempt to serve warrant and 911 hang up.
