All-Star Girls Head to State Championship Game

The Jasper County Recreation Department’s (JCRD) nine and 10 year softball All Star team, consisting of 12 players who were selected from the league’s four teams, will play Wednesday, July 20, at 6 p.m. in Elberton for the state championship. They will face the Toccoa All-Stars.
They defeated Northern Columnbus 4-2 Tuesday to earn the berth. O’Neil Sealy was the winning pitcher, striking out 14 batters.
It all started two weeks ago when the team traveled to Elberton where the girls went 4-0 to win the District Six Championship, which earned them a trip back to Elberton for the state tournament.
Last Saturday, in the first game of the tournament, the All Stars beat Oconee County 24-0. In the second game of the series they defeated the Warner Robins All Stars 3-2. Monday the team suffered its first loss to the Toccoa All Stars, 11-1, however the format of the tourney enabled them another opportunity.
