Shady Dale Rodeo Is this Week

The Shady Dale Rodeo is scheduled for tomorrow, June 3, and Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. nightly.
Admission is $15 for adults, and $5 for children 4-10. Children under four are admitted free.
Friday is family night, and all children under 10 are admitted free with two paying adults. There will be plenty of concessions available, and free parking for all who attend.
Cowboys and cowgirls will compete in various events, with the highlight, bull riding, coming at the end of the evening’s festivities each night. Other events include calf roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and bareback bronc riding.
In addition, an experienced rodeo clown will help keep the bulls off the cowboys, but he will also provide much entertainment. Also providing entertainment will be Southern Exposure Drill Team and Miss Rodeo USA Katie Barger.

In conjunction with the rodeo, the Shady Dale Community Club will host the “Round-up Festival,” on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the center of town, with the annual parade starting at 3 p.m.
James “J.R.” Beasley of Machen is the grand marshal of the parade. He was injured in combat in Zormat, Afganistan. The Shriners and many others will also take part in the parade, and there is no charge.

All proceeds from the rodeo go to Masonic-related activities and charities, with many local students receiving college scholarships.
Corporate sponsors are Hooper Trailer Sales, Pennington Seed, Ginn Motor Company and Tractor Supply.
