Lady Cougars Fall in Semi-Finals

The Piedmont Academy girls soccer team saw its successful 2011 season come to an end Wednesday in the semifinals.

The Lady Cougars fell 5-1 to Heritage in Newnan as the teams battled for a spot in the GISA Class AA state championship contest. The match was tied 1-1 at halftime, but Heritage controlled the second half to advance.

Heritage, who had Piedmont’s number this spring earning three wins, advances to the championship for the second time in the past three years.

Andie Lewis scored the Lady Cougars’ lone goal in the semifinal contest.
