Lady Cougars Advance to Final Four
The Piedmont Academy varsity girls soccer team is now in the Final Four.
The Lady Cougars defeated First Presbyterian Christian Academy 5-4 in overtime Thursday. Up next is Heritage of Newnan, the No. 1 seed from Region 1-AA. The match will be Wednesday, May 18, at 6 p.m. on the road.
While Piedmont is a No. 1 seed (Region 2-AA), the pre-determined playoff bracket has the No. 1 team from 1-AA hosting the semi-final matches. Higher seeded teams host the first three rounds unless two equal seeds meet.
The winner of Piedmont-Heritage will face the survivor of Frederica and Terrell for the state championship. The title game will be Saturday, May 21, at Stratford Academy in Macon beginning at 1 p.m.
The Lady Cougars are coached by Dwain Landress and Jake Landress and are now just two wins from a GISA Class AA state title.
