FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Sadarius Rooks of Monticello has been awarded a football scholarship to Shorter College in Rome.
He signed the papers accepting the scholarship last Thursday afternoon, while his dad, Joe, and mom Sonya, along with his grandmother, Mary Sanders (right, seated) looked on. Also, (standing, left to right) his uncle, Jontae Sands, Jasper County High School Principal Howard Fore, Jasper County High School Head Football coach Eddie Roberts, and Jasper County High School teacher Amy Scroggs were on hand for the signing.
Shorter is a Christian University committed to excellence in education, its website says. Shorter plays football with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Sadarius was a stand-out on the 2010 Hurricane football team, racking up 1,871 total yards. He was also named to the all-region team.
