Alma Ruth Wood Hughes

Alma Ruth Wood Hughes, 70, of Monticello, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Eatonton Health and Rehab in Eatonton.

Mrs. Hughes was born in Dahlonega, to the late Elbert Asbury Wood and Missie Mae Tuggle Wood. She moved to Monticello in 1965. She was preceded in death by grandson, Scott Beck; sisters, Carole Wages, Jane Spooner, and brother, Charles Wood.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia McMichael of Madison, Lynn Beck and Diane Eubanks of Conyers; grandsons, John Lance and Brandon McMichael; great-grandson, Chandler Morgan; brothers, Leroy Wood of Shady Dale and Gene Wood of Monticello; and sister, Sue Shupe of Gray.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Richards will officiate.
