MS Canes Win One, Lose One

The Middle School ‘Canes played two games last week after being off one week and rained out one week. The ‘Canes were on the road last Monday and faced the Redskins of Social Circle. The Redskins defeated the ‘Canes in a close game by a score of 11-8.
Chad Cain was the starting pitcher for the ‘Canes. He pitched three innings and gave up four earned runs on two hits. Colt Kelly pitched the last three innings of the game. Kelly gave up three earned runs. Four runs scored by the Redskins were unearned runs and were given up as a result of errors by the defense.
The ‘Canes scored eight runs and had eight hits against the Redskins. Walt McMichael and Lane Thomas led the offense with two hits each. Chad Cain, Brelan Crowe, Taylor Fritz, and Cain Gonzalez had one hit each. Crowe and McMichael had two RBI’s each, and Gonzalez, Chase Helms, Fritz, and Quinton Standifer had one RBI each.

The ‘Canes traveled to Milledgeville on Tuesday and faced the GMC Bulldogs. This time, the ‘Canes came away victorious 10-1.
Quinton Standifer pitched the complete game. Standifer gave up one run on three hits. Standifer had two strikeouts and one walk.
Walt McMichael led the offense by going two for three. Jacob Cavender, Taylor Fritz, Jordan Stone, Quincy Standifer, and Lane Thomas had one hit each.
The Middle School ‘Canes played their final regular season games Monday and Wednesday of this week. They are scheduled to play in the Piedmont Athletic Conference tournament this Saturday in Putnam County.
