Mrs. Helen Jordan-Maddox
Mrs. Helen Jordan-Maddox was born May 27, 1921 to Sidney and Lizzie Jordan in Putnam County.
She was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully for many years. In 1946 she met and married Duvoil Maddox. She was a devoted wife for 29 years until he died in 1995.
During their marriage they had a large chicken-egg farm business.
Mrs. Maddox enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. Over the years she was caretaker to many loved ones. Her generosity and kindness to others exemplified the type of person Mrs. Maddox was throughout her life.
Mrs. Maddox was the fourth born of her siblings, Cleveland Jordan, Willie Andrew Jordan, Sidney Jordan Jr.,, Iona King, Bennie Lee Whitfield, Johnnie (Bill) Jordan, and Elease Jordan, all of which preceded her in death.
Survivors include a devoted sister-in-law, Magnolia Smith-Jordan, and a host of nieces and nephews, including Alvin Jordan (Wilhelmina), Anita Jordan-Jones (Tim), Johnnie Mae Lee, Jacqueline Hurt-Johnson, Mildred Grant, Ann Jordan, Audrey Jordan, Elease Farley, Joyce Farley, James B. Jordan, Marvin Jordan and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Shady Dale. Rev. Annette Howard and Rizer Pool officiated.
