Joseph S. Higginbotham
Former Senator Joseph S. Higginbotham died April 3, 2011 in North Fort Myers, Fla.
He represented Dekalb County in the Georgia House of Representatives and in the Senate.
He was stationed in Korea with the Army and was also a Marine.
Later in life he was the co-owner of Higginbotham Furniture. He enjoyed golf and boating and spent many happy years on Jackson Lake. He attended Gordon Military College and the University of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by a son, J. Sterling, his mother Estelle and father Sterling, and a sister Mitzie.
He is survived by his wife Cecelia Higginbotham; daughters, Debi O’Hara of Ravena, N.Y., Cindi Behrmann of Covington, Heather Dillard and Stephanie Isings, both of McDonough; and a son, Jimmy Higginbotham of Jonesboro. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Anderson Patterson funeral home, Fort Myers Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
