James Foy Rearden

James Foy “Jimmie” Rearden, Jr., 82, of Gray, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.

Mr. Rearden was born in Wetumpka, Ala. to the late James Foy Rearden, Sr. and Maysey Allen Rearden.

He was a graduate of North Georgia College in Dahlonega. He served as a 1st Lt. in the Infantry of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Platoon Leader. He was injured and received the Purple Heart. He moved to Gray in 1958.

Before retirement, he was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Gray. Mr. Reareden was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gray. He was a member of the American Legion Post 142, Shriner’s, Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6686 and the Moose Club of Macon. He was a retired volunteer fireman in Gray.
His first wife, Alva Hume Rearden, and sister, Mary Polk, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Greene Rearden of Gray; sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Francis Aaron of Stone Mountain; children and spouses, Foy and Mimi Rearden of Jeffersonville, Lee and Bob Zittle of Gray, and Allen and Cindy Rearden of Macon; step-children and spouses, Danny and Kathy Greene, Nancy and Ricky Nash, and Al and Patsy Greene, all of Gray; grandchildren and spouse, Caroline and Chad Baker, Brad Rearden, Brandi Rearden, Brooke Rearden, Becky Rearden, Bailey Rearden; step-grandchildren, Joseph D. Greene, III, Anna Greene, Graham Nash, Jeffrey Nash, and Adam Greene; great- grandchildren, Chase Baker, Chance Baker, Emily Rearden, Marie Claire Rearden, and Avery Rearden; and step-great-grandchild, Joseph D. Greene, IV.

A memorial service was to be held Wednesday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello, with Rev. Joseph D. Greene, III officiating.
Burial was held in West View Cemetery in Monticello.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Ethel Rearden’s residence at 821 Hwy 18E Gray, Ga. 31032.
