A/C Unit Thefts Abound

During the last four weeks the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has reported nine different incidents throughout the county where air conditioning units have been stolen from residences.

Five of those nine have occurred in Turtle Cove, and appear to be taking place at homes that are vacant or at homes where the owner is not a full time resident.

The latest report came from a McDonough resident who reported the theft of Amana and Ruud outside air conditioning units at a home on Turtle Cove Trailway.

During the period of March 29 through April 4, the JCSO reported these additional criminal incidents:

•A theft by taking was reported on April 3 from a residence on Jackson Lake Road, in which a Cadillac El Dorado was stolen.

•A theft by taking was reported on March 31 from a residence on Jackson Street, in which a 2007 Mirraco Blend 3 bicycle was stolen.

•A burglary was reported on March 30 from a residence on Lakeshore Drive, in which two refrigerators and an electric fan were stolen.

•A burglary was reported on March 30 from a residence on Blue Heron Drive, in which a piggy bank containing cash, a battery charger, a generator, an air compressor, a guitar and fishing rods were stolen.

•A burglary was reported on March 27 from a residence on Herring Gull Court, in which a flat panel TV was stolen.

Also, during the period of March 29 and April 4 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Maynard Elroy Ratzel, 35, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•Michelle Lynn Hart, 41, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•Bridgett Jean Jones, 30 Monticello—mandatory education of minors.

•Rico Marquez Tolen, 33, Jackson—interference with government property and transmitting false report of a fire.

•Stacey Elaine Thrash, 33, Monticello—probation violation.

•Quan Dameon Middlebrooks, 20, Monticello—probation violation.

•Desmond Rashan Willingham, 22, Monticello—probation violation, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm across guard line.

•Willie Arthur Sanders, 75, Shady Dale—disorderly conduct.

•Faaruwq Abdullah Muhammad, 26, Monticello—reckless conduct.

•Cathy Taylor Martin, 45, Danville—theft by taking.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 183 calls for service including 44 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 20 alarm, 17 each subject needs officer and road hazard, 12 accident, seven each assist motorist, theft by taking and mechanical break down, four vandalism of property, three each burglary, escort or convoy welfare check, and music/noise complaint, two each domestic, speeding auto, pick up prisoner, juvenile complaint, threatening/harassing calls, checking location and argument, one each fight, courtesy ride, intoxicated driver, direct traffic, fire/structure, mental person, wanted stolen, be on the look out, chest pain, unconscious, person dead, overdose, extra patrol, trouble unknown, property found, persons refuse to leave, abandoned vehicle, illegal dumping/littering, fraud/theft by deceiving, sick, test call and 911 hang up.

In addition, during the above mentioned period, the Monticello Police (MPD) reported the arrest of Ramon Artuor Jackson, 34, of Monticello, and charged him with pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

They also reported the arrest of Nicole Elizabeth Kraus, 27, Panama, Fla., who was chargd with theft by takin gand theft by receiving stolen property. Ms. Kraus allegedly stole a truck from the Dairy-Queen last week after abandoning another stolen vehicle there.

And during this period officers with the MPD responded to 66 calls for service including 18 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, five music/noise complaint, four each alarm and subject needs officer, three burglary, two each domestic, intoxicated pedestrian, escort or convoy, crowd disbursement, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, private property, road hazard, argument and abandoned vehicle, one each speeding auto, accident, livestock on road, theft by taking, wanted/stolen, fall, shoplifter, checking location, persons refuse to leave, VGCSA, and lost property.

The Georgia State Patrol also reported the following two arrests:

•Kathleen Adler Griffin, 48, Monticello—windshield violation, u-turn violation and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Jose Gonzalez, 40, Covington—driving on roadways lane for traffic, open container, license violation and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
