Woman Steals Truck at D-Q

During the early afternoon Tuesday, a woman claimed to have run out of gas at the Dairy Queen, and after some bystanders pushed her vehicle off the side of the road, it was reported she jumped into a truck in the Dairy Queen parking lot and drove off.

The victim saw her take his truck, but was unable to stop her. The Monticello Police Department (MPD) and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) were alerted and a chase ensued west on Hwy. 212 from town, and the stolen truck was stopped approximately seven miles west of town by Sheriff Charles Roper and two deputies with the JCSO.

The woman gave her name as Nicole Kraus, however, she was unable to produce any identification, and is currently incarcerated in the Jasper County Jail.

Also, the JCSO is seeking Nicholas Standifer as an additional suspect in the armed robbery of Susie Q’s convenience store this past January. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the JCSO at 706-468-4912, or the anonymous tips line at 706-468-tips.

During the period of March 22-28 the JCSO reported the following criminal incidents:

•A theft by taking was reported on March 28 from a residence on Redtail Court in Turtle Cove, in which an air conditioning unit was reported taken.

•A theft by taking was reported on March 25 from the Jasper County High School, in which an ipod with a purple case was reported stolen.

•A theft by taking was reported on March 25 from a residence on Bufflehead Court in Turtle Cove, in which an air conditioning unit was reported taken.

•A theft by taking was reported on March 27 from a residence on Deepwater Drive, in which an air conditioning unit was reported taken.

•A burglary was reported on March 27 from an impound barn on Marben Farms Road in Mansfield, in which a lap top computer, a battery powered saw, a John Deer Gator, bags of horse feed and boxes of de-wormers were stolen.

•A theft by taking was reported on March 25 from another residence on Bufflehead Court in Turtle Cove, in which an air conditioner unit was taken.

•A theft by taking was reported on March 25 from a residence on Laney Court, in which a Huffy bicycle was reported taken.

In addition, during the period of March 22-29 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Altwan Durrell Manning, 25, Monticello—Jasper County Probate Court Bench Warrant.

•Lillie Jeanelle Otwell, 36, Monticello—failure to maintain lane and driving while license suspended or revoked.

•William Eugene Few, Jr., 36, Covington—hold for warrant in Jones County.

•Jamie Leanne Blackmon, 31, Eatonton—burglary and probation violation.

•Jeremy Bryan Robinson, 26, Covington—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 42 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 14 alarm, 12 subject needs officer, nine theft by taking, seven assist motorist,six mechanical break down, four four-wheeler, three each accident, livestock on road, escort or convoy, pick up riisoner, possible suicide and threatening/harassing calls, two each burglary, domestic, missing person, extra patrol, road rage, discharge firearms, trouble unknown, property found, argument and attempt to serve warrant, one each prowler report, speeding auto, courtesy ride, intoxicated driver, hit and run, fire/brush, mental person, wante/stolen, be on the look out, fracture, dead deer on road, utility dept needed, child abuse/molestation, welfare check, counterfeit, juvenile complaint, private property, music/noise complaint, trespassing, abandoned vehicle, fraud/theft by deceiving, identity fraud/theft, sick and 911 hang up.

During the period mentioned above the MPD reported the following arrests:

•Jessie James McElheney, 56, Monticello—simple battery and battery.

•Travis Sentail Clemons, 31, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, probation violation, child support, driving while license suspended or revoked and loud music.

•Shedrick Demon Farley, 31, Eatonton—hold for warrant at Milledgeville Police Department.

•Andre Johntonio Smith, 17, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Jessica Virgiankia Williams, 31, Jackson—driving while license suspended or revoked, stop sign violation, giving false name or address to law enforcement officer.

Also during this period officers with the MPD responded to 74 calls for service including 22 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven alarm, five subject needs officer, four domestic, three counterfeit, two each burglary, assist motorist, escort or convoy, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, threatening/harassing calls and persons refuse to leave, one each fight, prowler report, accident livestock on road, hit and run, fire/structure, theft by taking, road rage, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, entering auto, possible suicide, private property, kidnapping, shoplifter, argument and abandoned vehicle.

In addition, during this period the Department of Natural Resources reported the arrests of Amanda Lynne Konopaseka, 20, and Johnathan Ryon Ash, 17, of Rotonda, FL, and charged them with possession/manufacture/distribution of a controlled substance.

Also, the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Brittany Sondria Hardeman, 24, of Shady Dale, and charged her with speeding, open container and driving while license suspended or revoked.
