Mrs. Hattie Lucille Tolbert Harris

Mrs. Hattie Lucille Tolbert Harris was born on February 16, 1920 to the parentage of Rev. Posey Tolbert and Mrs. Eula Tolbert. She died March 22.

Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Peter A.M.E. Church in Ft. Valley. Rev. Bertram Smith officiated.

Mrs. Harris was the last and oldest surviving sibling of eight children: Johnston Tolbert, Maggie T. Riley, Portia T. Halliburton, nancy T. Britton, uriah Tolbert, Warren Tolbert and Stanley Tolbert, all of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harris attended Fort Valley State College in Fort Valley where she met and was united in marriage to Greene H. Harris, Sr., and the marriage lasted 70 years. To their union five children were born; Frances Harris Smith of Monticello; Carol Hararis Jefferson, Pamela Harris Moore, Renee Harris Manson, and Green Harris, Jr., all of Ft. Valley. Survivors in addition to her children include nine grandchildren, Karen, Kimberly, Derek, Marcie, Kelli, Nickalas, Lucious Max, Dana, and Lucas; seven greata-grandchildren, Alexis, Shane, Kennedy, Trinity, Raquel, David and Nevaeh, and a number of other relatives.

When Mrs. Harris children became school age, she was employed by the Fort Valley State College and Bibb Manufacturing Company. She was an avid reader and gardener.

Pallbearers were James A. Latimore, James E. Smith, Don Key, Bura Marshall, Frederick Emerson, and Emory Latimore, Sr.
