Turkey Season Arrives

This Saturday, March 26, is opening day for turkeys and trout in Georgia. In Monticello, it is also opening day for the recreation ball program with all ball teams anticipated to play then (see related story).

Turkeys can be found throughout Georgia, however most trout streams are in the north Georgia mountains. Turkey season lasts until May 15. Except for a few year-round streams, trout fishing season will end October 31.

The photo of the turkeys above was taken in Jasper County earlier this month. Experts are expectign an average turkey season.
