MS Canes Win, Lose; Move to 4-2

The Middle School ‘Canes won and lost last week bringing their record to 4-2 for the season. The ‘Canes faced the Redskins of Social Circle and were defeated 11-1. The loss resulted from numerous fielding errors along with not being able to get the bats going.
Walt McMichael was the starting pitcher going four innings. McMichael gave up six runs on six hits and had five strike outs. Chad Cain started the fifth inning and gave up five runs on one hit. Colt Kelly finished the fifth and struck out the one batter he faced.
The offense had four hits during the game by Lane Thomas, Quincy Standifer, McMichael, and Jordan Stone. Quincy Standifer scored the only run for the ‘Canes on an RBI single by McMichael.

The ‘Canes were able to pull off a win the following day against the Tigers of Greene County by a score of 14-0.
Quinton Standifer had a strong outing for the ‘Canes and pitched a no hitter. Standifer was on the mound for three innings and had seven strike outs and only one walk.
Walt McMichael led the hitting and was three for three. Tyler Seawright also went two for two. Stephen Arena, Chad Cain, Cain Gonzalez, Colt Kelly, Garrett Scroggs, Quincy Standifer, and Quinton Standifer had one hit each.
The ’Canes do not play this week. They will face Morgan County at home on March 28 and travel to Social Circle on March 30. Both games begin at 4:30 p.m.
