HOSA Champions

Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) members (left to right) Morgan Mote-Patterson, Ami Labriola and Kayla Bartlett recently took first place in the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) contest at the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Athens. By virtue of their first place win, the JCHS team has advanced to the national competition in Anaheim, Calif. this summer.
In the CPS contest, students are asked to use the problem solving process and then work as a team to create a solution to a hypothetical health care related problem. The students were given 15 minutes to create a solution to the problem and then presented their solution to a team of three judges, who were all very complimentary of the local team.
Other HOSA members participating in the competitions were Zeb O’Kelley, concepts of health care, and Sarah Andrews and Nora Dahod, career display. While at the conference, students attended various educational forums dealing with health care. The group was accompanied by HOSA advisor Lily Chatman and Career Technical Instruction Coordinator Rob Andrews.
