ACCIDENTS ABOUND

Jasper County emergency officials responded to three wrecks in the first two days of this week. The first one sent the driver to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, according to radio reports, and blocked traffic for hours.

This tractor-trailer (middle two photos) overturned on Hwy. 11 north between Bethel Church and Liberty Church Roads Monday morning. After the driver was safe in the ambulance, deputies directed traffic around the accident for several hours.

Once the trailer was removed, traffic moved better, but the clean-up was not complete until a hazardous material (haz-mat) team cleaned up the diesel spill. Later Monday, this red sedan (bottom photo) overturned on Hwy. 212 west of Monticello near the dairy. The driver was not seriously injured. Then, Tuesday morning, this two-vehicle crash (top photo) on Hwy. 212 at Bethel Church Road sent one for medical attention.

It was not clear exactly what happened, and no information was available from the Georgia State Patrol Wednesday morning. Typically reports are not ready in less than a week. Jasper County deputies were able route traffic around that accident, preventing a traffic back-up.
