Monticello Hoop Stars Begin Play
The Monticello Hoop Stars had a pre season-opener last Saturday, Feb. 19 in an exhibition basketball game in Jackson.
The nine and 10 year olds, coached by Greg Robinson, and pictured here went up against a nine and 10 year old team from Jackson.
In a fast paced game, the Hoop Stars had an aggressive start and out-did the Jackson Stars quickly and took control of the game.
The final score, 50-17, gave the Monticello Hoop Stars their first win.
Also in action were the 11 and 12 year old Stars, coached by Pastor Rufus Whitlock. Unlike the previous game, the 11 and 12 year old Stars played a nail biter. It seemed as if they were going to pull away with the lead, but the team from Jackson kept the game just within their reach.
