Church Burglary Suspects Charged
Christopher M. Labriola and Justin A. Bowles have been charged with burglary in the December 13 break-in at Shiloh Baptist Church in Newborn. Mr. Labriola had recently bonded out of the Jasper County Jail on a charge of burglary in the January 7 burglary on King Plow Road in Shady Dale, but is once again incarcerated in the local facility. Mr. Bowles is currently being held in Butts County on other charges.
According to an official report, money totaling $456 in cash and checks, a laptop computer valued at $1,864 and another valued at $674 were taken from the church. Both computers have been recovered, however, other items taken were not found at the residence of either defendant, nor is the location of them known. Also, the investigation is ongoing, and other suspects are being sought.
In a separate incident, Hakeel D. Norwood has been charged with burglary in a break-in at a residence on Shady Grove Church Road on February 22, in which a water container of coins totaling over $1,000 was taken from the location with a trail of coins leading to a set of tire tracks, which turned out to fit Mr. Norwood’s vehicle. An official report states the accused admitted to his vehicle being there, but that he was there for another reason.
However, later that day, according to a witness, Mr. Norwood, along with a juvenile male, were at Ingles where they were using a female to utilize the Coin Star machine to cash in coins and deposited $560.51 in coins into the machine. They had the coins in a backpack/duffle bag and had at least that many more coins left after cashing in the amount listed above. Mr. Norwood was also charged with probation violation and is currently on a probation hold in the local jail.
